It is this type of raw and unfiltered storytelling that may be appealing to some listeners because the lyrics often highlight the struggles of urban life conditions in inner-city neighborhoods. Therefore Gangsta Rap as a whole has played a significant role in the constantly evolving hip-hop culture and has influenced subsequent generations of hip-hop artists.
