“Complications” from billy woods and August Fanon featuring Aesop Rock is straight chef’s kiss for the abstract rap purists out here grinding in the shadows. Fanon’s production keeps it ultra minimal with those ghostly guitar riffs floating over almost nothing creating space for woods and Aesop to go full cerebral mode on themes of inherited trauma, fractured identities, and the mess of modern existence.
